Had a great time despite the rain in Chadds Ford on Sunday. Saturday brought around 4000 visitors to the show, not all taking in the art, but quite a few did and I sold a few paintings and 2 prints. Over all a nice show considering the weather and economic times. Hope next year brings more visitors and collectors of art. Meet some great artists and new friends!
William Ternay a wonderful painter and draughtsman. Loved his close palette paintings, which has made me think about my palette and it's range. You should visit his site! Also a hoot an artist by the name of Keith Hofmann, self taught original from Brooklyn New York via Maine and now in PA. Great sense of light and shadows!

I've been working a lot of plein-air this year including the winter. Finding out how much I like painting in the fresh air... Yeah sometimes the bugs get in the way or the cold brisk air and snow mixes with the paints and makes them unmanageable.
But it's that struggle that makes the painting and I get to take that back in the studio and utilize it internally on larger pieces as well!
Little Boat That Could
Completed this at the Solomons Island Paint Out in May
Just finished a many new pieces from working out in the fields of Harford County to the school I teach in John Carroll. Had a blast with teaching Plein-Air this past June. Hope they had just as much fun learning. I completed several paintings as demonstrations and did a lot of others pieces as well!

I'm a semi-retired art teacher, who continues to paint and practice my craft. I graduated from MICA in 1976, and taught in Baltimore County for 34 years. I first taught at Perry Hall Elementary in the late 70's and early 80's before becoming Art Chair at Lansdowne High School. Stayed at Lansdowne until the 96 school year moving to Chesapeake High School. Retired in July of 2008, and now teach part time at John Carroll School in Harford County, a most wonderful school with very committed students.
I continue to paint, and draw everyday exploring a variety of subject matter from the barns of Baltimore and Harford Countys, to store fronts of Fells Point. My interest has always been the play of light and color and the interactions of shadows with these and the ever changing color combinations nature provides. I love to paint outside as well as work on compositions in the studio.
